Random thought/rant of the day:
I love, love Nike’s slogan: Just Do It.
I’m realizing that when it comes to developing your artistry and creativity, you can’t always wait around until that ‘spark’ lights up. You can’t wait for the motivation to kick in to start the work. I tried working like that for a year (perhaps more? lol). I would wait for weeks at a time to push me into motion. In the meantime, the thoughts in my head would swirl and scramble around, causing anxiety in me….because I knew, in my deepest core, that I wasn’t creating any (good or bad) results for myself when I truly wanted to do the work. Then I’d feel guilty and mope around. It wasn’t a very proactive process; instead, it was masochistic and extremely unproductive. I felt that if I wanted to start anything, it had to be all or nothing and PERFECT. Because it it wasn’t, then all the work and results must mean nothing….right? Not.
Whether it’s good or bad, you gotta go in there and Just Do It. Work isn’t glamorous, especially when you’re creating your own startup. You’ll wake up exhausted, need that extra shot of espresso in your coffee, be cursing at yourself in front of your laptop while you force yourself to do something. I’ve had days like that. Funny thing is, at the end of the day when I lay down to go to sleep, I end up feeling satisfied.
It’s comforting to know that I made some progress, and that tomorrow, I’ll be able to fix it up even more and make it better. And that’s how you improve in your craft – you force yourself to do something (anything!). Afterwards, you hone in on it and make it even better. The more you repeat the process, eventually it becomes easier and more efficient. And you’re on your way to success. <3
so yeah. ending the rant right here. Let’s Do It, guys. Let’s all hustle to make our dreams come true.
toodles,
