For this Valentine’s Day I wanted to get ready with a more toned down, taupe makeup look. Not every Valentine’s Day makeup look has to be rosey pinks and have red hearts in their makeup, right? 😉

I created this look using the Pat McGrath Bronze Seduction eyeshadow palette. The palette costs a whopping $128 so it definitely took me awhile to bite the bullet and buy it! It’s definitely a SPLURGE. Though the price tag is very heavy, the Bronze Seduction palette is a beautiful palette that I’ll definitely be enjoying for a long time. Pat McGrath Labs is a high quality brand that has many wonderful products to choose from.

Step 1: Conceal Your Blemishes!

For this look I already applied foundation, contour and brows, so we’ll be starting with concealer. I’ve been using this Pat McGrath Labs Sublime Perfection Concealer in “LM8” for a few months now… and it has officially reached holy grail status for me.

Dare I say *gasp!* that it may have even replaced my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer?

The shade LM8 is great for those with more yellow undertones like me. I’m a fan of the formula as well, as it does a great job of blending. It has a less thick consistency compared to NARS, which I have been enjoying as it takes less time to blend.

My face needs a little extra love as I have some pimples, dark circles, and redness around my nose to cover. I decided to blend my fingers using a light patting motion.

Set Your Concealer With Powder

I want to make sure my concealer doesn’t shift around, so I’ll be setting it with my handy dandy NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder in the Pressed version.

This light powder has a really nice finish; it does a great job at blurring the skin and pores. As a result, you’re left with a luminous, smooth finish.

Pat McGrath Bronze Seduction palette: Warm Brown eyeshadow

Let’s crack open the Pat McGrath Labs’ Bronze Seduction palette!

Going into the shade called “Entrapment,” I am applying it to the entire eyelid as a base shade.

A good medium brown shade is a must in any makeup lover’s collection… and I think this one is worthy to be added into anyone’s collection!

This brown shade is wonderful as it’s buildable, it applies well (with no patchiness!), and blends smoothly. All in all, it’s a big winner in my book.

Darken for a Smokier Look

Now let’s spice it up with a darker shade called “Xtreme Auberine.” Using a small, pointed brush like this one from MAC Cosmetics, I am first focusing on the outer corner of my eye before slowly pulling the color in.

I decided to keep the color as close the upper lash line as possible as this would create a smooth gradient, smokey look.

I’m also applying whatever’s left onto the lower lash line to create a more cohesive, balanced look in the eyes.

The Taupe-y Star of the (Eyeshadow) Show!

I have been absolutely loving this taupe eyeshadow called “Gilty Pleasure!” Look at pigmented that swatch is in the middle photo.

I decided to pat it in with my fourth finger for a stronger color payoff. It applies buttery smooth and I am such a fan of the sparkly shimmer and strong color payoff in this shade. I am swooning!

Highlight the Eyes!

This sparkly shade definitely lives up to its name which is “Astral Luna Gold,” lol.

Using a flat, tiny eye brush from EcoTools, I am applying this shade lightly to the center of my eyelid.

Additionally, I also applied it to the inner corner of my eyes for a brighter look. This will also open up my eyes and create the illusion of bigger eyes.

Highlight The Eyes Even More!

While Astral Luna Gold looked lovely on the center of my eyelid, unfortunately I wasn’t a fan of how it was applying in my inner corners with the chunks of glitter not applying evenly.

Going into this lovely champagne shade called Skinshow Divine Glow, I applying it to the inner corners of my eyes again. This shade definitely did a better job at highlighting!

Tightline the Eyes

I discovered this Retractable Waterproof Eyeliner in 01 Black in Sephora a few months ago and it is so underrated! The price tag is around $13 to $15 but I love how it applies buttery smooth.

Once this creamy formula dries on your eyes, I kid you not – it’s not going anywhere. In fact, I know it doesn’t budget because I cried once while wearing this and my eyeliner was still on. The crying is a story for another time though, lol.

Give Some Love To Your Lashes

So I have Asian lashes that grow straight down. For a little extra boost, I am using the Shiseido eyelash curler to give my lashes some lift and curl.

Afterwards, I am applying the Benefit Cosmetics’ They’re Real! Mascara

Highlight The Face

To put this expensive palette to good use, I’ll be doubling up the shade Astral Luna Gold as a highlighter on my nose bridge, cupid’s bow, and cheekbones.

Appy Lipgloss

This is the perfect My Lips But Better shade from Pat McGrath! I love how luscious this lip gloss feels on my lips. It is on the stickier side as the formula is more of a thicker consistency; hence you will get hair stuck on your lips like me if you wear your hair down.

However, I’m a fan of the shade and how moisturizing it is on my lips!

Blush Up The Face

To match the lips, I am using this lovely dusy rose shade from the Pat McGrath Labs as well. This one is in the shade “Desert Orchid,” and will be universally flattering on many skin tones!

I am applying the blush using this angled blush brush from MAC Cosmetics.
